About The Position

The Tax Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate and compliant sales and use tax management while supporting broader accounting and finance functions. This position combines technical tax expertise with hands-on execution, providing critical insights for tax filings, reconciliations, and process improvement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and external advisors, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency. The role requires strong knowledge of sales and use tax regulations, hands-on experience with tax software, and the ability to navigate complex tax scenarios in a dynamic, growing SaaS environment. The Tax Accountant will contribute to strategic tax planning while maintaining high standards for accuracy and compliance. This is a remote opportunity within a collaborative, data-driven environment where innovation and continuous improvement are valued.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Tax; Master’s degree and CPA preferred
  • 3–5+ years of experience in sales and use tax compliance and preparation, with experience in corporate accounting and federal/state income tax a plus
  • Strong knowledge of sales/use tax regulations, research, and technical tax applications
  • Proficiency with NetSuite, Zuora, Avalara, and tax preparation software
  • Excellent analytical, Excel, and communication skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and reside in a central or eastern time zone without sponsorship

  • Experience in public accounting is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain sales and use tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions
  • Own Avalara configuration, reconciliations, and tie-outs to billing and revenue systems
  • Prepare and review sales tax returns, use tax invoices, and tax accruals
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors on corporate income tax provisions, transfer pricing, VAT returns, and RD tax credit processes
  • Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, and other accounting activities
  • Engage with internal teams and third-party advisors to resolve tax compliance, planning, and controversy issues
  • Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and potential tax planning initiatives
