The role: The Taskforce Rooms Manager will serve as the operational leader of The Edgewater Hotel’s gift shop and coffee shop, overseeing all aspects of retail and café performance, merchandising, guest experience, and team leadership. This role will also be responsible for elevating the in-room and on-property guest experience through innovative engagement initiatives, in collaboration with various departments including Marketing, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Front Office. This position is 80% focused on retail and coffee shop management, and 20% focused on experiential guest engagement and marketing initiatives that enhance brand storytelling and revenue opportunities. The Edgewater is an independent boutique, one of kind, 223 rooms iconic hotel with 11,000 sq ft of meeting space. A day in the life… Primary Responsibilities – Retail, Coffee Shop, and Merchandising (80%) Retail & Coffee Shop Operations Lead daily operations of the gift shop and coffee shop, ensuring high levels of guest satisfaction, cleanliness, and team efficiency. Manage product inventory, ordering, stock rotation, and vendor relationships for both retail and F&B. Create seasonal and monthly merchandising plans aligned with hotel branding and guest trends. Oversee coffee beverage program quality, recipe execution, and partner/vendor compliance (e.g., local roasters or branded goods). Maintain POS systems, pricing accuracy, and manage cash handling procedures in compliance with hotel standards. Develop team member training programs focused on upselling, storytelling, and guest service excellence. Merchandising & Branding Curate merchandise that reflects the Edgewater Hotel’s history, waterfront location, and Seattle’s local culture. Collaborate with marketing and creative teams on custom items, branded goods, and rotating themes. Lead seasonal displays, window staging, and promotional tie-ins with hotel events and Seattle happenings. Monitor sell-through rates and identify top-performing items and opportunities for growth. Analyze sales reports and guest feedback to optimize inventory and pricing strategies. Retail Marketing & Promotions Partner with the marketing team to promote the shop and coffee offerings through in-room materials, social media, and onsite signage. Create and execute monthly promotions, including bundled offers, loyalty rewards, and holiday gifting packages. Lead photo shoots and visual storytelling for retail and coffee shop marketing content. Secondary Responsibilities – Guest Engagement & Experiential Projects (20%)Guest Room & Onsite Experience Enhancements Assist in the design, sourcing, and merchandising of Mini Bar programs, with an emphasis on locally sourced and branded items. Contribute to the guest amenity and bath amenity programs, including seasonal updates and personalized VIP touches. Support guest room upsell strategies, such as special occasion packages, in-room enhancements, and upgrade offers. Oversee in-room experience branding, such as music playlists, scent curation, lighting ambiance, and thematic decor. Support valet guest engagement strategies, including surprise-and-delight moments, branded vehicle touches, and arrival amenities. Lobby & Public Space Activations Work with cross-functional teams to activate lobby displays, holiday décor, and themed activations that tie into hotel promotions and Seattle events. Coordinate lighting and scent management for public spaces, ensuring brand consistency and seasonality. Help execute small-scale promotions, pop-ups, or vendor partnerships within lobby or gift shop areas. Marketing & Creative Support Provide content, ideas, and operational support for broader hotel marketing campaigns. Contribute to storytelling and copywriting for in-room materials and signage tied to the guest experience and retail.
