About The Position

The Wellness Program Assistant will be responsible for day-to-day activities that are required to further the goals of the program. The Wellness Program Assistant serves as the initial point of contact for the TANF clients, tribal community and the general public whether via telephone or personal contact. Will provides general clerical support and program assistance to the staff and for the services provided through Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal TANF further referred to as TMTC TANF.

Requirements

  • Possess High School Diploma or GED equivalency and two or more years directly related experience in family services or youth programs (as an employee or voluntary participant).
  • A commitment to improving the lives and well being of the tribal community through the delivery of programs and services leading to a strong family unit, self-sufficiency and independence.
  • Capacity to use oral and written language effectively.
  • Knowledge of the use of standard office equipment including photocopy and fax machines, multi-line telephone systems, postage meters, etc.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office and the ability to learn and use specialized software programs and data base programs as well as the ability to effectively use the internet for research.
  • Ability to work independently, in groups and a team environment.
  • Possess the ability to work with people from diverse cultures, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds with knowledge of native communities and possess sensitivity to native needs.
  • Must be able to respect and adhere to the most rigid and strict rules of employer/tribal member/public citizen practice of confidentiality.
  • This position requires walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods of time; climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 20 lbs.; raising objects overhead, manual dexterity for operation of computer, phones and small office machines; hearing, talking, good verbal and written communication skills; repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • Possess a valid driver license and maintain current vehicle insurance, as this position requires driving.
  • Employment is contingent on pre-employment background and drug test results.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain documents and records, telephone answering and routing calls to appropriate staff, distribution of mail, scheduling appointments and enrolling community members in program activities.
  • Provides general information to Tribal members of the community on programs and services available through the TMTC TANF Program.
  • Assists staff in the planning, preparation and executing activities and events sponsored by the TMTC TANF Program.
  • Maintains a current calendar of events and assists in the development, production and distribution of materials used to inform the community of activities and the program.
  • Provides transporter services on a non-routine basis as the backup to TMTC TANF Wellness Coordinators.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
