About The Position

Language Trainers is a successful language training company working with freelance teachers of 70 different languages in hundreds of towns and cities across the world. Students are either in-company or self-funded who need to learn a language at their office or their home for work, family or travel reasons. Founded in 2004, the company’s motto is Any Language, Anytime, Anywhere! We might have a job for you as a Tamil teacher. Some details about the course: One of our clients in Oakland would like to have one-to-one GENERAL Tamil classes. This student wishes to have classes at either at your office/home or in a public location that is near Oakland, 94702. She would like to have a 42-hour course. Classes of two hours should be held alternating weekly sessions (two one week, one the next) averaging about 12 hours per month, on the following schedules: Monday (4-9pm); Thursday preferred (9am-12:30pm, 6-9pm); Saturday preferred (9am-2pm); Sunday preferred (9am-2:30pm),and she wishes to start asap. Information about this student: -Estimated Current Language Level: Lower Intermediate -Native language English -Motivation: She grew up in a Tamil-speaking family, and attended a weekend Tamil academy for many years in middle and high school, but has not studied the language since then. As a result, her fluency has significantly decreased. She would like to improve her understanding of her culture and to be able to have basic conversation when traveling in India. -Student's age group: 25-34 -Comments about how student has been learning the language: She attended a weekend Tamil academy for many years in middle and high school, doing homework and participating in plays. -Aspect of the language mostly interested in: Speaking Ideal teacher should: Be a native Tamil speaker OR hold a teaching degree Have experience as a language teacher, translator or interpreter Have a valid working visa Live up to 20 miles from the client's location. Location of the classes and schedule could be flexible based on your and the client’s availability. The hourly rate is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
