About The Position

Wild West Systems is a defense technology startup redefining autonomous edge defense through modular, AI-powered weapon systems - designed, built, and launched in the USA. We're looking for a hands-on Talent Acquisition & People Ops Lead to help us build the team that builds the product. This is not a corporate HR role. You will own recruiting end-to-end for manufacturing, engineering, and operations, moving fast, locally, and with extremely high standards. If a process doesn't exist, you build it. If hiring stalls, you unblock it.

Requirements

  • Proven recruiting or HR experience in fast-moving environments
  • Hands-on experience hiring technical, manufacturing, or operational roles
  • Strong judgment, bias for action, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing facility
  • U.S. citizenship / ITAR-compliant status required

Nice To Haves

  • Startup, hardware, manufacturing, or defense experience a plus
  • SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drive full-cycle recruiting for machinists, mechanics, engineers, and ops roles
  • Build local Austin / Central Texas talent pipelines
  • Partner directly with leadership on hiring priorities and timing
  • Run tight interview loops and close candidates
  • Establish early-stage people ops foundations (onboarding, compliance, documentation)
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits
  • Partner with management to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives
  • Maintains accurate HRIS employee data
  • Assist with benefit selection and open enrollment
