About The Position

Under general supervision and following established procedures, the Talent Acquisition Manager is responsible for leading and executing the full-cycle recruiting efforts to attract, hire, and onboard top talent across the organization. This role manages recruiting strategies, hiring processes, employer branding, onboarding coordination, new employee orientation for benefits, as well as employee training efforts, while partnering closely with hiring managers to meet workforce needs for the Great Northern Corporation – Twin Cities location. This role is responsible for providing a high level of customer service, administrative support, and project coordination for the Human Resources department. This position will utilize superior communications skills and professionalism to coordinate the recruiting process from start to finish. Duties include owning all aspects of recruiting, selection and/or hiring of new employees; developing relationships to improve recruiting and retention effectiveness; perform special projects; prepare and submit reports; partner with others regarding employee training; onboard new employees and conduct new employee orientation. All job responsibilities are to be performed in strict adherence with the Company’s Mission/Values Statement and in accordance with established standards for external customers as well as internal customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or, 5 + years of related Human Resources talent acquisition experience.
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in talent acquisition/full-cycle recruiting.
  • Strong knowledge of recruiting best practices and employment laws and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic sourcing and talent pipeline development.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platforms.
  • Experience managing onboarding and/or training programs.
  • Ability to own entire talent acquisition process.
  • Strong collaboration and influence skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Requires the ability to practically apply knowledge in legal selection techniques.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity and professionalism throughout the entire recruiting, onboarding and training process.
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and education backgrounds.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work effectively.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for all non-exempt and exempt roles, including posting open positions to job boards, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer negotiation, hiring, and use of Dayforce ATS.
  • Partner with leaders and hiring managers to understand workforce needs, job requirements, and hiring timelines.
  • Works with Managers, Supervisors and employees to write job descriptions and keep job descriptions updated.
  • Develops job postings (internal & external).
  • Develop and execute recruiting strategies to attract qualified candidates.
  • Complies with legal aspects and ethical aspects of recruitment and selection.
  • Source candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, technical schools, and community partnerships.
  • Networks within the community and participates in appropriate job fairs.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines for current and future hiring needs.
  • Support employer branding initiatives to position the organization as an employer of choice.
  • Screen candidates, coordinate interviews, extend offers, support the pre-employment requirements, and maintain a strong candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
  • Schedules, administers and organizes candidate assessment test for production direct hires and interviews and testing with Industrial Psychologist for non-production and management direct hires.
  • Coordinate and manage the onboarding process for new team members.
  • Facilitate and oversee new hire orientation and initial training programs; enforce adoption of training program Learning Management System (LMS) including scheduling of in-person training.
  • Support early employee engagement and retention. This includes scheduled Stay Interviews with newly hired team members as well as coordinate scheduling and logistics of new hire events. (new hire lunches, etc.)
  • Support the General Manager and Production Manager in monthly Production Supervisor Recruitment/Retention meetings.
  • Manage recruiting workflows, Dayforce applicant tracking system (ATS), and documentation.
  • Continuously improve recruiting and onboarding processes to support operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, hiring policies, and internal procedures.
  • Track and analyze recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, turnover, and hiring effectiveness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to hiring managers and leadership on recruiting and hiring best practices.
  • Provide guidance on interview practices, hiring decisions, and candidate experience to internal hiring managers.
  • Stay current on talent acquisition trends, tools, labor market condition, and workforce challenges.
  • Track internal referral payments to ensure employees are paid timely and according to the policy.
  • Support the Human Resources department by performing various administrative duties.
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous job-related tasks as may be assigned from time-to-time by a Management Representative.
