Job Description Job Summary Performs chemical testing and analyses, prepares and maintains accurate operating reports and records at a Combined Cycle electric generating station. Maintains water treatment and laboratory equipment and facilities. What you will do Performs tests and analyses on water, steam, other fluids or materials relating to the maintenance and operation of an electric generating station. Performs and participates in job safety briefings, safety tailgate sessions, safety reviews and safety observations. Maintains proficiency in the operation of water treatment control systems. Works closely with contractors on troubleshooting, repairing and/or installing equipment. Observes, operates and initiates repairs to Combined Cycle water, steam, chemicals and any other associated systems’ equipment. Maintains an accurate operating log of assigned equipment and performs preventative maintenance to sustain equipment availability and reliability. Performs inspections and assists with maintenance of the site, Combined Cycle and related equipment utilizing Maximo and predictive and preventive maintenance processes and procedures. Self performs when qualified. Performs and documents routine inspections of the site, water treatment and related equipment, and collects and retains necessary data to support regulatory permit requirements and reporting. Monitors water and associated treatment equipment performance. Prepares and maintains testing records as assigned. Participates in the performance of warehouse activities, maintains laboratory facilities and supplies. Calibrates and maintains sample system, water treatment and production system equipment and analyzers. Performs and participates in regular inspections, overhauls and maintenance of all related plant equipment. Orders, receives and unloads acid, caustic and other chemicals needed for the operation of the facility. Safely operates mobile and heavy equipment to perform maintenance tasks. Performs various generating plant and shop area housekeeping functions. Supports safety, plant reliability, productivity, and plant efficiency improvements by participating in various continuous improvement activities. Performs all work according to established procedures and safety practices. Must qualify to perform the duties of Combined Cycle Operator II or possess and maintains a DNR wastewater license. Train other employees in this job classification. Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position. Work shiftwork, when scheduled.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Associate Degree Emphasis in chemistry or related area Required
  • Possess necessary skills in basic mathematics, electricity and chemistry at the high school level.
  • Possess necessary skills in basic electrical, basic instrument and control and basic mechanical.
  • Demonstrated technical ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate work and work with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Travel can include occasional overnight stays.
  • Knowledge of plant water systems.
  • Interest and aptitude for analytical work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of Power Plant Operations, Electrical, or Maintenance experience.
  • Small Wastewater System Operator License.
