This position is a hybrid role (4x per week onsite) at our headquarters in Fremont, California. Nextpower seeks a skilled and motivated Systems Test Engineer for a position on the NX Accelerator team. This role will focus on developing and executing test procedures for product prototypes, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements. The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise in hardware/system testing, enjoys working in lab and field environments, and thrives in cross-functional collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams. Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred) or relevant industry experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience in system-level product testing (mechanical/electrical/controls)
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, load frames, and vibration tables
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and sensors (strain gauges, accelerometers, thermocouples, etc.)
  • Toolsets required: SolidWorks, ePDM, FEA (ANSYS preferred)
  • Strong aptitude and intuition in mechanical failure analysis
  • Practical knowledge of prototyping manufacturing process
  • Must possess solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel on a limited basis domestically and internationally as needed

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures for mechanical, electrical and control subsystems as well as complete system-level validation
  • Design and set up test fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems for lab and field testing
  • Conduct environmental, durability, reliability, and performance testing on prototype units
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with the design engineering team to identify concepts and designs for future products
  • Perform and manage engineering work using CAD / FEA software to solve problems in mechanical / structural design, finite element analysis, design optimization, prototype generation, and fatigue analysis
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of issues discovered during pilot testing
  • Occasionally travel to field sites to perform system-level tests under real-world operating conditions.
