About The Position

The Systems Technician is responsible for assembling the mechanical components of industrial automation systems based on detailed drawings provided by the Engineering departments. This role physically builds systems, including mounting components and routing cables and wires—without connecting live power. The Systems Technician ensures that systems are properly assembled and fully prepared for electrical integration and testing by other teams.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly instructions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills
  • Familiarity with industrial components such as actuators, sensors, and control panels
  • Basic understanding of cable routing and wire management (without live connections)
  • Attention to detail and precision in mechanical builds
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow standardized procedures and safety protocols
  • Organizational skills for managing parts and tools efficiently
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certificate or associate degree in a related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical assembly or production environment, preferably in industrial automation
  • Experience working with mechanical drawings and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools used in assembly
  • Understanding of safety practices in a manufacturing or assembly setting
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Comfortable working in a production environment that may require repetitive tasks and prolonged periods of physical activity

Responsibilities

  • Assemble mechanical components of automation systems based on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Mount hardware such as enclosures, actuators, sensors, and other system components.
  • Route and organize cables and wires per layout guidelines, ensuring readiness for electrical integration.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure proper alignment, fit, and secure installation of mechanical parts.
  • Maintain accurate records of build progress and report any discrepancies or issues to leads.
  • Follow safety protocols and company procedures during all assembly activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to resolve mechanical assembly challenges.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining tools, materials, and workstations in the production area.
