About The Position

The Systems Team Intern plays a direct role in advancing Atlanta Mission’s ability to serve those experiencing homelessness by strengthening the tools that fuel our fundraising and donor engagement efforts. By helping build an online Development Dashboard, this intern will equip our Development Team with real-time insight into donor activity, revenue, and performance—enabling smarter decisions, faster responses, and greater stewardship of the resources God entrusts to our ministry. This role supports the revenue engine that funds shelter, meals, recovery, and long-term transformation across all Atlanta Mission campuses. Through this work, the intern will see how data, technology, and faith-driven mission intersect to multiply impact for those we serve

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of SQL and basic data modeling concepts
  • Experience or coursework involving data visualization tools (Tableau preferred)
  • Comfortable working with code and technical platforms such as VS Code, DBT, or similar tools
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, usable visuals for non-technical users
  • Strong problem-solving, organization, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional team

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Salesforce, cloud data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake), or ETL tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and launch of an online Development Dashboard (Development MMR) in Tableau Cloud
  • Work with Salesforce, Tableau, SQL, Snowflake, DBT, FiveTran, and VS Code to extract, transform, and visualize data
  • Create wireframes and early visual mockups to define dashboard layout and user experience
  • Build and refine a minimum viable product (MVP) based on stakeholder feedback
  • Develop production-ready dashboards, including one high-level executive view and 7–10 deep-dive pages
  • Participate in user testing and incorporate revisions prior to go-live
  • Collaborate with the Systems Team and Development stakeholders to ensure dashboards meet real business needs
  • Document data sources, assumptions, and logic to support long-term sustainability of the tool
  • Participate in weekly or bi-weekly check-ins with the intern supervisor to review progress, troubleshoot issues, and plan next steps
