About The Position

The Developer Internship provides students a valuable experience with real world applications while being able to work a part-time, flexible schedule to fit your educational needs. Interns will be involved throughout the entire development life cycle of an application and work on identifying and analyzing any problems with the help of a Software Engineer mentor. Other duties may include documenting user requirements, completing application change requests and quality assurance testing. The position requires 15-20 hours per week between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. The position is flexible and we work with your school schedule!

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in a college/university, pursuing an Associate or Bachelor degree in Software Design, Software Development, Computer Science, or Computer Programming major
  • Knowledge of the JAVA programming language
  • Must be able to work in Eau Claire, WI for the duration of the internship
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • JSPs, Servlets, EJBs, Spring, Object Oriented Design
  • Familiarity with XML, Eclipse, Android Studio and Visual Studio is helpful
  • Excellent design and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capable of working on both individual and team-oriented projects

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain applications for Menards stores and external web sites, primarily using Java
  • Work through the entire development lifecycle, creating program specifications through coding, implementation, and testing
  • Create test plans and thoroughly test and debug all programs prior to implementation
  • Provide weekly status updates on current projects
  • Work with stores, help desk, and technical support Team Members to troubleshoot problems as they arise
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of User's operations to facilitate communication
  • Identify problem trends pro-actively
  • Execute action plan(s)
  • Follow established processes for problem handling and resolution
  • Maintain information confidentiality and security
  • Protect, prevent and report all unauthorized attempts to obtain corporate information
