About The Position

The Systems Patching Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the patching and vulnerability update processes to maintain the integrity and security of Granite’s IT infrastructure. This role requires a proactive individual with strong technical skills to manage patching cycles, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support various system administration tasks. The position involves after-hours work and a mix of specialized and general IT responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Solid knowledge of patch management tools such as SCCM, Intune, PatchMyPC, or similar
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), Backup and Restoration processes, and Microsoft Office 365
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and manage escalations.
  • Willingness to work after business hours (30% of the time) to support patching and vulnerability

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience in systems administration, patch management, or a related IT role.
  • Experience with IT inventory management and procurement
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices or other IT service management
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator, or Google Cloud certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the deployment of patches and vulnerability updates, requiring 30% of time working after business hours to minimize system
  • Utilize tools such as SCCM, Intune, PatchMyPC, or similar technologies to manage and automate patching
  • Ensure systems are up-to-date with the latest security patches and software updates.
  • Collaborate with Systems Team, Security Team, Application Teams, and QA Teams to plan and coordinate patching
  • Develop and maintain schedules for patch deployments, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and minimal impact on
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of patching
  • Perform general systems engineering tasks, including working with technologies such as Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), Backup and Restoration, Systems Monitoring, and Microsoft Office 365
  • Act as an intermediary between the Help Desk and Systems Team, handling escalations and providing technical support for complex
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues to ensure operational
  • Assist with IT inventory control and purchasing
