About The Position

Inside the Role Inside the Role This position is centrally located within the Powertrain Engineering organization (TT/XN), providing a unique opportunity to collaborate across all TT/XN development projects and stakeholder groups. As an L5 System Integration Engineer reporting to Alessandro Cozzolini (TT/XNS), this lead engineer will play a key role in shaping next generation powertrain solutions while directly influencing the end customer experience through high quality, state of the art validation processes and methods. The scope of this role spans all powertrain technologies, including engines, aftertreatment, transmissions, axles, eMobility, and fuel cells. As a principal contributor to systems development and validation, the senior engineer will work closely with vehicle programs, our road to rig system assets, and additional system level testing resources such as Hardware in the Loop (HiL) and simulation environments using ECU test. Success in this role requires strong technical depth in compliance, advanced tools, powertrain systems, and emerging technologies. The successful candidate will leverage this expertise—along with their global network across Portland, Detroit, and Stuttgart—to help shape future strategy, influence product direction, and drive development efficiency Posting Information We provide a scheduled posting end date to assist our candidates with their application planning. While this date reflects our latest plans, it is subject to change, and postings may be extended or removed earlier than expected. We Take Care of Our Team Position offers a starting salary range of $81,000 – $104,000 USD Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience. Benefits include annual bonus program; 401k company contribution with company match up to 6% as well as non-elective company contribution of 3 - 7% depending on age; starting at 4 weeks paid vacation; 13+ calendar holidays; 8 weeks paid parental leave; employee assistance program; comprehensive healthcare plans and wellness programs; onsite fitness (at some locations); tuition assistance and volunteer paid time off; short-term and long-term disability plans. At this time ONLY accepting candidates from the TT/NX area of the business What You Drive at DTNA Lead validation efforts of current and future powertrains performance, control strategies and diagnostics collaborating closely with Onboard Diagnostics (OBD), thermodynamics, mechanics, aftertreatment, axle, Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) teams, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs (CRA), the Vehicle Test Center, and PVE teams Front load validation activities by standardizing DVP requirements and test procedures for powertrains at the vehicle level, on a chassis dynamometer, on HiL systems, and within simulation environments. The overarching objective is to reduce on road vehicle testing and shorten overall validation cycles. Lead efforts to integrate the DVP into the broader VRR product release process as well as perform test management to identify proper testing platform to maximize testing efficiency. Develop new test methodologies that replicate over the road conditions in a chassis dynamometer environment, establish correlation between vehicle and dyno results, and identify/optimize areas where system level and real world testing diverge to best validate powertrain systems against CARB/EPA emissions and OBD legislations Lead strategic planning for expansion of chassis dyno capabilities through controls enhancements and collaboration with E4 facilities to influence capital expenditure planning. Consolidate test requests into comprehensive test plans and coordinate execution with the Powertrain Test Center (E4 lab), leveraging road to rig chassis test assets and other available resources. Create clear, standardized test reports and templates to enable rapid interpretation of results. Partner with product development teams to develop unified reporting formats for simulation, HiL, and R&D outputs covering powertrain performance, compliance, OBD, and software sign off. Innovate and adapt test plans to evaluate competitor performance and emissions strategies.
