This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a hardworking team you will work as an Avionics Integrator within the Avionics team on the Crewed Lander, focusing on the integration of one or more spacecraft subsystems. You will lead cross-functional trade studies, run integrated analyses, and define interfaces that impact the design and integration of the spacecraft. You should expect that this foundational part of our vision will require your excellent communication and teamwork. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. Requirements

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical subject area
  • 8+ years relevant experience in the full life cycle development of avionics systems, including requirements, design, integration, test, and operations.
  • Deep experienc e in integrating spacecraft subsystems - Avionics, Software, Structures, GNC, power system , etc.
  • Demonstrated expertise related to configuring and managing time-sensitive, deterministic networks such as like Time Sensitive Networking, ARINC 664, Time Triggered Ethernet, or other approaches
  • Demonstrated ability to define and manage communication protocols
  • Demonstrated functional understanding of common electrical digital and analog interfaces ( e.g. Serial Bus Communications, Video, Audio , Ethernet, Analog Sensors, etc.)
  • Highly knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems
  • Strong ability and desire to analyze complex systems and deliver results-oriented solutions
  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems, Software, Electrical, or related technical subject area
  • Experience with human-rated spacecraft
  • Experience with full spacecraft design life cycle
  • Experience with systems safety design practices
  • Experience with MBSE methods and tools including SysML
  • Experience with electrical architecture diagramming practices and tools including MS Visio
  • Experience with software tools such as SINDA/FLUINT, MATLAB/Simulink, Creo, Jama, Cameo, Confluence, and JIRA
  • VB Script or Python Experience (for tool development)

Responsibilities

  • Act as the negotiator between multiple stakeholder s with conflicting interests to optimize the spacecraft design.
  • Contribute to or lead Avionics architecture studies, concept development, verification planning, vehicle integration, and operations support
  • Manage Avionics requirements development, definition, and maturity
  • Develop and manage Avionics physical, logical, and network configuration interface control documents (ICDs)
  • Develop and maintain data and communication budgets
  • Develop and maintain integrated electrical architecture diagrams.
  • Coordinate constraints and conflicting requirements across multiple disciplines
  • Contribute to or lead change management e nsur ing proper change impact assessment and coordination of design changes and their impacts across subsystems
  • Identify , assess, and manage program risks (technical, schedule, cost, integration)
  • Tool development for maintaining vehicle electrical configuration and definition.
