About The Position

KTS develops complex, cutting-edge aircraft avionics hardware and software solutions supporting digital interoperability, survivability, situational awareness, and data collection. We have a proven track record of delivering high quality products throughout the defense industry. KTS is seeking a systems engineer to manage part of the systems engineering team which is responsible for the development of requirements, design, integration and test of KTS products. This is a full-time position at the KTS facility in Des Plaines, IL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
  • Eight or more years of engineering experience executing engineering design with systems engineering experience
  • Experience as a team or project lead
  • Proven history of providing technical guidance to junior engineers
  • Intimate knowledge of Systems Engineering best practices to include the Systems Engineering Technical Review process and V-Model
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Technical and integration background with a solid understanding of developing battlespace CONOPS and mission oriented solutions
  • Demonstrated integration experience of various systems (ideally of aircraft systems)
  • Proficient with the following interfaces including setup and troubleshooting: Serial (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485), Ethernet networking, PCIe, and MIL-STD-1553
  • Comfortable with C/C++ or scripting language programming

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight, mentoring and training to a team of five to ten Systems engineers.
  • Operate as a subject matter expert working with external customers to define systems requirements
  • Manage development of products from design through test to verify compliance against requirements
  • Staff projects including defining and prioritizing tasks. Provide workload forecasting and progress reports to ensure timely program execution.
  • Support proposal efforts to include budgetary and schedule estimates
