About The Position

This role is for a Systems Engineering Lead for the NASAMS product line within the Systems Engineering, Integrated Systems Department at RTX. RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company with 185,000 employees, focuses on solving complex global problems. Raytheon, a part of RTX, leverages over 100 years of engineering expertise to deliver defense solutions. The Integrated Systems Department provides weapon systems engineering, specializing in radar systems, effector systems, battle management, command and control, network design, battlespace integration, and interoperability for both domestic and international customers. The successful candidate will collaborate with motivated engineers on systems engineering studies, trade analyses, requirements definition, algorithm development, integration, test, and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with Air Defense Systems
  • Experience managing project financials, scope, and performance metrics (including cost, schedule or earned value)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience interfacing with external customers and industry partners, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self‑motivated, passionate leader with over 5 years of experience in Air Defense Systems or Systems Engineering (production or development)
  • Knowledge of Air Defense systems (e.g., Patriot, NASAMS) and experience making challenging technical decisions while managing competing priorities
  • Existing DoD security clearance, plus familiarity with Raytheon IPDS or equivalent frameworks and Earned Value Management (including Raytheon EVM execution)
  • Advanced degree in EE, CE, Physics, Math, ME, or Aerospace

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight and management for a variety of Systems Engineering efforts
  • Concept and requirements development (including decomposition and flowdown) within a mature product-line
  • Concept of Operations (CONOPS) development and design
  • Algorithm optimization and development
  • Multi-disciplinary development efforts across the kill-chain for an Air and Missile Defense System
  • Collaboration with customer to bring new capabilities to the warfighter
  • Functional analysis of real world and test data; trade studies to bring advanced features to fielded system
  • Support and lead Internal and External Program and Design Reviews
  • Collaborate with other IPT/CPT leads from the various functions and products
  • Support and lead Internal Research and Development for future capability upgrades
  • System integration and test support, including live fire test events
  • Periods of travel up to 25% of time both domestically and internationally
