About The Position

The Rotary Wing Cargo Systems Platform team within Collins Aerospace is seeking a student to join us as a Systems Engineering Co-op for Summer/Fall 2026. Our team is responsible for the CH-47F helicopter flight deck for US and International customers. The selected engineer will come on board as a member of our platform systems engineering team and participate in avionics engineering tasks that are associated with the design, development, integration, and test of platform and software applications. Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity). This is an onsite role located in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Student must be pursuing a Bachelors or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the information under this program/contract

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Basic experience with DOORS, JAMA, JIRA, and ALM tool suite
  • Basic experience working within an aerospace related engineering development environment
  • Basic experience or knowledge of engineering/technology requirements capture and configuration management tools
  • Basic experience or an educational background covering requirements capture & definition, integration, verification & validation testing
  • A collaborative attitude, accountability for actions taken, execution to plan, and a self-motivation that produces superior results

Responsibilities

  • Learn requirements capture and peer review for CH-47F cockpit avionics for the US and International Chinook programs.
  • Participate in decomposing and allocating requirements to appropriate domains within Collins Aerospace.
  • Support the creation of test procedures to verify requirements.
  • Participate in on-site execution of requirements-based testing, robustness and Ad-Hoc testing in a lab environment (schedule flexibility is necessary during formal test phases).
  • Collaborate within an Agile-based development team of professional engineers.
