The HGS Mechanical engineering team is responsible for performing a variety of mechanical engineering design and analysis tasks which requires knowledge of engineering theory and principles to determine design solutions for electronic, electromechanical and optical head up display and guidance products for both the commercial and military fields. Our engineers are responsible for ensuring products are safe and comply with aviation standards. This role is onsite, in Wilsonville, Oregon. This role may be eligible for relocation.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62 .

Nice To Haves

  • Analysis and application of appropriate tolerances using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance principles.
  • Experience with FEA software package (ANSYS preferred) Static structural, dynamic structural and thermal analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and processes.
  • Experience in a 3D CAD solid modeling software package (SolidWorks and/or UG NX preferred).
  • Understand basic stress and strain theory.

Responsibilities

  • You will design, analyze, test and document hardware under guidance of more senior engineers.
  • You will perform under a process oriented development system.
  • You will generate and present clear and concise task status presentations to team members.
  • You will create and present clear and concise technical descriptions to team members.
  • You will complete designs that meet documented hardware requirements.
  • You will meet schedule commitments and investigate solutions for open ended complex problems.
  • You will create designs to optimize weight, volume, cost and manufacturability while meeting structural, thermal and other environmental and functional requirements.
