About The Position

The team at Advanced Space is leading humanity back to the Moon and pioneering innovative solutions in the space industry. Based in Westminster Colorado, this incredible team is looking for a skilled Systems Engineer to support our growing number of exciting projects! In this role, you will work on a variety of technical projects ranging from research applications, technical product development, and spaceflight programs. Many of these programs incorporate the full systems engineering lifecycle from concept development and requirements definition through design, integration, test, and on-orbit operations. In addition to these opportunities, candidates may also have the opportunity to get involved in mission formulation and proposal development efforts. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a broad technical background, strong communication skills, and the ability to work across disciplines. Requirements

  • B.S./M.S./PhD in Aerospace Engineering with a technical emphasis in Systems Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience in mission implementation of flight and ground systems with an emphasis on cislunar & deep space systems preferred
  • Manages moderately complex tasks independently while ensuring adherence to defined processes.
  • Actively participates in design reviews and technical interchange meetings.
  • Proactively develops technical skills through targeted training in areas such as MBSE, interface control, and verification methods.
  • Delivers measurable contributions to project success through well-executed requirements analysis, trade studies, and verification planning with minimal oversight.
  • Independently diagnoses and resolves moderately complex technical problems across familiar domains.
  • Follows through on commitments to peers and stakeholders across teams, building a reputation for reliability.
  • Engages effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve technical objectives.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in adapting technical approaches when requirements or constraints change.
  • Contributes to IRAD initiatives that advance company technical capabilities and competitive positioning.
  • Willingness to learn new concepts, skills, and areas within systems engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Basic understanding of environments associated with mission regimes (LEO, GEO, cislunar, interplanetary) and the different conditions that exist between each related to Mission Design
  • Awareness of different navigation approaches (ground-based tracking, onboard autonomous navigation, radiometric vs. optical).
  • Familiarity with software documentation practices (ie. Software requirements specifications, interface control documents).
  • Occasionally contributes ideas to Business Development/IRAD efforts and supports proposal development.
  • Understands technical requirements development, verification, and validation
  • Basic understanding of what each spacecraft subsystem does and the interactions between them.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and deliverables on well-defined tasks.
  • Assist in development of system requirements, specifications, and interfaces
  • Understands the relationship between review type (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.) and expected content maturity.
  • Can participate in ConOps discussions and understand operational scenarios, mission phases, and their relationship to system modes and states.
  • Regularly contributes to model development on projects with some oversight needed.
  • Can create basic SysML diagrams (BDD, IBD, requirements) following established patterns.
