About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking a Systems Engineer 3 (Mid-level) to focus on system architecture, requirements, and interfaces primarily for the P-8 program. This position reports to the P-8 Systems Engineering group and will be 100% onsite in Tukwila, WA. The P-8 is a high-visibility, advanced commercial derivative military aircraft program supporting the U.S. Navy and international customers. As a Systems Engineer 3, you will apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. You will evaluate customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. A Secret clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently with minimal oversight.
  • Experience on the P-8 or similar commercial-derivative military aircraft system is helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visio is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the P-8 architecture and interfaces, including assessing impacts of change requests and additions.
  • Update Interface Control Documents (ICDs) at configuration change points.
  • Update architecture block diagrams and box-level interfaces.
  • Coordinate with other engineering IPTs (wiring, cabinets, interiors, etc.) to understand and document pin-to-pin connection requirements.
  • Collaborate with design teams, Navy customers, hardware, and software teams to develop and integrate future upgrades.
  • Develop and monitor requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Resolve cross-functional technical issues.
  • Assist with internal research and development (IRAD) projects as needed.
