The Systems Integration and Engineering (SI&E) organization is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to support Development, Training, SE2.0 initiatives & other Projects. 50-75% of the effort will be leading the Systems Engineering Mid-career Advancement Program (SEMAP). SEMAP is designed to develop future system engineers through a structured training and development program, resulting in expanded Systems Engineering knowledge and experiences. The two-year program includes training, projects, development activities, lectures, and interactions with SMEs across organizations. Other focus areas of this role will include supporting SE2.0 initiatives, training classes, program and project surge support, along with other emerging activities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent education with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with this assignment.
  • Knowledge of the Systems Engineering theory and processes across the Systems Engineering V-Diagram
  • Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker with the ability to select and apply appropriate systems thinking skills to solve problems and implement constructive change
  • Direct experience in Systems Engineering on one or more programs and across multiple parts of the program life cycle
  • Deep technical experience in multiple Systems Engineering functional skill domains
  • Experience in process development/improvement
  • Experience in project development, coordination, and execution
  • Experience as a formal or informal mentor
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching, growing, and developing talent
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering Command Media and processes
  • This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a new program start-up in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with digital transformation efforts such as 1LMx and implementing AI/ML capabilities to improve program and organization capabilities.
  • Experience supporting multiple programs in multiple Lines of Business
  • Deep technical experience in other Engineering fundamental areas such as Mechanical, Electrical, Software, etc.
  • Considered a Subject Matter Expert in one or more Systems Engineering areas
  • Alumni of any technical development program such as SEMAP, SET, ATLP, Associate Fellow, etc.
  • Experience as a CPE and/or CAM
  • Experience as an IPT or Technical Lead
  • Experience as an independent reviewer for IRBs/IRTs in support of Major System Reviews
  • Experience developing training material
  • Experience as an instructor leading technical training
  • Experience communicating and presenting to senior leadership
  • Experience as a coded Leader (L-Code)

Responsibilities

  • Update, coordinate, and lead the SEMAP program.
  • Design and develop training material, projects, and exercises across a variety of SE related topics.
  • Prepare SEMAP project schedules & coordinate SMEs and other speakers for presentations & reviews
  • Organize and facilitate regular meetings that use Systems Thinking and Full Spectrum Leadership as frameworks to challenge perspectives, beliefs, and mental models of SEMAP participants
  • Utilize the SEMAP alumni network to help participants network, find mentors, and future opportunities
  • Coordinate across Space, Corporate, and other BA’s on to align Systems Engineering development and training
  • Assist in the development, evolution, and delivery of Systems Engineering training in support of the SE Training team
  • Support a mixture of projects related to Systems Engineering 2.0 activities
  • Provide Systems Engineering support to initiatives, projects, and programs on an as needed basis
