About The Position

The Systems Engineer is a professional position within the Solutions Group and is part of a team responsible for project engagements specifically focused on design, development, support and administration of Microsoft Server Infrastructure within multi-server enterprise class environments.

Requirements

  • The Systems Engineer must have a well-rounded background, solid Windows 200x skills and advanced working knowledge of Active Directory/NT Domains.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Enterprise level product integration (such as backup / recovery, mobile devices, archiving products and enterprise monitoring solutions).
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field required
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience
  • Must possess an updated MCSE certification
  • Must possess a strong background in Active Directory design and Implementation
  • Must have an overall strong understanding of security of active directory and group policies
  • Candidate should have a complementary skill such as MS SQL, MS Share Point, MS Exchange, and Office 365
  • Extensive experience implementing/migrating XP, 2000, NT 4.0, Active Directory.
  • Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Must be customer service and results-oriented and have the ability to work well in fast paced environment.
  • Required to work off hours on occasion and as needed
  • Please note that this position requires a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and the ability to pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Additionally, highly recommended and desired is a working knowledge and experience with virtualization and SANs, particularly ISCSI (such as Left-Hand Networks)
  • MS Exchange Certification is desirable along with experience designing exchange in large enterprise environments

Responsibilities

  • Provides timely and efficient delivery of services to clients and business partners
  • Responsible for architecting, designing, deploying and supporting “systems infrastructure” in enterprise class environments including but not limited to servers (physical and virtual), storage (NAS, SAN), backup & restore (onsite and cloud), virtual desktop (Citrix and terminal server), disaster recovery (replication) data migration and systems infrastructure monitoring
  • Responsible for architecting, deploying and supporting “cloud services” including but not limited to Microsoft Office365 suite (exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive), security, encryption, archiving, backup and recovery
  • Responsibilities include backup and restore, clustering, replication, and migration
  • Effectively analyze and measure system performance, capacity, and availability often used to identify new opportunities and to assist clients with planning efforts
  • Performs scheduled installation of solutions and effectively works with clients to ensure that the solutions achieve the proposed and intended objectives and ensures that the client receives adequate knowledge transfer
  • Works with the Project Manager on scheduling and project timelines and reports on project progress, status and issues for self as well as the other team members
  • Participate as needed in Kick off meetings to add direction and stress key parameters and concerns (in-house and client settings) and prepares appropriate documentation during the project and at project closure
  • Provide for and ensure proper transition into “steady state” operations (post project), ensuring adequate documentation and skills transfer to the CIC to successfully provide ongoing support
  • Works with Engineers and solutions architects in designing, deploying and supporting assigned operating systems and disciplines.
  • Consistently collaborates with other Engineers to solve complex procedural, operational, technical problems and provides technical direction and training to team members
  • Acts as a Level III resource for the other Engineers
  • Assists Sales in the design, specification, and configuration of solutions.
  • Provides the technical leadership on client engagements and opportunities to develop solution designs, develop work products and act as a subject matter expert on consulting projects
  • Provides the technical leadership to develop technical proposals, assessment documents, and other technical documentation, including periodic articles for our newsletter, website and other Social Media strategies
  • Effectively acts as project technical lead on solutions engagements and directs other team members
  • Work with account managers to properly quote services to current and potential clients
  • Looks for opportunities to expand technical knowledge in currently assigned disciplines, as well as emerging technologies
  • Routinely checks both service and pre-sales boards to ensure tickets assigned to systems solutions group to ensure accuracy, follow-through and completion
  • Demonstrates the ability to work efficiently and effectively without supervision.
  • Works off-shift, nights, holidays and weekends as needed to support problem resolution or infrastructure upgrades.
