About The Position

Systems Engineer responsible for lifecycle support of supervisory ship control systems in an industrial/shipboard environment, including design, development, testing, and documentation of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems, and industrial control systems. Day to Day Responsibilities: Provide design support for integration of equipment in industrial/shipboard environments and technical input to future control systems Develop, derive, and refine system and software requirements including User Stories, acceptance criteria, and V&V documentation Design, configure, and troubleshoot PLC-based systems Create wire harnesses, electrical diagrams, and configure equipment assemblies Provide shipboard SW & HW installation support at land-based engineering facilities and shipboard during modernization availabilities Develop test plans and test procedures and conduct system testing at land-based engineering facilities and shipboard Create and update technical manuals, procedures, diagrams, parts lists, and procurement documentation Review technical documentation and participate in design reviews and technical meetings Support laboratory setup activities and provide regular status updates

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or relevant technical/engineering discipline and 2+ years of professional experience
  • Proficiency in reading electrical diagrams, the use of diagnostic tools associated with industrial control system troubleshooting (e.g., voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and similar test equipment)
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective technical communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Successful applicants must either have an active government Secret clearance or the ability to receive approval upon position acceptance
  • Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in control systems engineering
  • Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting
  • Basic technical writing ability
  • Familiarity with Rockwell, Siemens, or other PLC systems
  • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisitions (SCADA) systems
  • Experience with industrial automation platforms
  • Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar technical drawing software
  • Cyber security/IT certifications. CompTIA Security+ or similar
