About The Position

The Systems Engineer – Scripting and Automation (PRIV) is a senior-level engineering role focused on designing, stabilizing, and formalizing automation within the data center environment. This position plays a critical role in supporting and improving automation capabilities that underpin PRIV and TSSA-related systems, with an emphasis on reliability, maintainability, and operational alignment. The role requires deep hands-on scripting expertise combined with architectural judgment and leadership. The Systems Engineer will assess existing automation, correct deficiencies, modernize legacy scripts, and implement standards and best practices to ensure automation effectively supports enterprise systems and services.

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance required at time of hire.
  • Senior-level experience in computer systems engineering, systems architecture, or automation engineering.
  • At least 6-9 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining automation or scripting in an enterprise or data center environment.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more scripting languages such as Python, Bash, JavaScript, or similar (3-5 years of experience)
  • Demonstrated experience stabilizing, refactoring, or standardizing existing automation and scripting.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, data center systems, or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop clear, maintainable technical documentation.
  • Ability to work onsite as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to resolve current automation deficiencies and support course correction activities associated with major system upgrades and stabilization initiatives.
  • Design, enhance, and expand automation capabilities supporting enterprise products, services, and data center operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and refactor automation scripts using Python, Bash, JavaScript, and similar scripting languages.
  • Identify, catalog, organize, and standardize existing automation and scripting across the data center environment.
  • Update and modernize legacy automation to improve reliability, scalability, maintainability, and documentation quality.
  • Collaborate with systems, network, security, and operations teams to ensure automation aligns with operational requirements and technical standards.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on automation design, implementation, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation related to automation workflows, dependencies, and operational use.
  • Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis related to automation failures or performance issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts aimed at increasing operational efficiency, consistency, and system stability.
