About The Position

We are seeking a Systems Engineer with a focus on Digital Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to support the U.S. Army TACOM / Program Manager (PM) Howitzer Systems. This role will contribute to the development, integration, and sustainment of next-generation artillery systems by applying modern digital engineering practices and MBSE methodologies across the system lifecycle. The ideal candidate is a journeyman-level engineer with a solid foundation in systems engineering principles, SysML/UML modeling, and MBSE toolsets (e.g., MagicDraw/Cameo). Deep subject matter expertise in howitzer platforms is not required, but familiarity with ground combat vehicles, automotive systems, or defense platforms is considered a plus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • 5 years of systems engineering experience (defense or complex systems preferred)
  • Foundational knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles
  • Experience developing models using SysML and/or UML
  • Hands-on experience with MagicDraw, Cameo Systems Modeler, or similar MBSE tools
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes (requirements management, verification & validation, configuration control)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative government/contractor environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting U.S. Army programs, particularly within TACOM PEO Ground Combat Systems
  • Familiarity with ground combat vehicle systems, artillery systems, or automotive platforms
  • Experience integrating MBSE with tools such as DOORS, Jira, or other requirements/configuration management systems
  • Exposure to digital engineering ecosystems and data interoperability frameworks
  • Understanding of MIL-STD systems engineering processes and the JCIDS DoD acquisition lifecycle
  • INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification (or working toward certification)

Responsibilities

  • Support system engineering activities across the lifecycle (requirements, design, integration, verification, and sustainment)
  • Develop and maintain MBSE models using SysML/UML to represent system architecture, interfaces, and behaviors
  • Utilize MagicDraw / Cameo (or similar tools) to build and manage digital system models
  • Translate stakeholder and operational needs into structured system requirements and model artifacts
  • Support architecture development, including functional decomposition, interface definition, and traceability
  • Participate in technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.) and provide model-based artifacts to support decision-making
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, logistics, and test engineering
  • Assist in the transition from document-based systems engineering to digital engineering environments
  • Ensure models are aligned with DoD Digital Engineering Strategy and Army modernization initiatives
