  • Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end software/integration projects (design, implementation, testing, deployment, support).
  • Strong understanding of web security, OAuth2, and enterprise authentication (e.g., Azure Entra ID / Azure AD) and API gateway/web-tier integration patterns.
  • Proven ability to translate business processes into technical/data requirements and work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in manufacturing, industrial systems, or large-scale enterprise collaboration platforms.
  • Familiarity with Workday or similar HR/WFM systems and their integration patterns with downstream applications (like Workjam).
  • Experience with Azure services (Functions, Blob Storage, CI/CD with GitHub Actions) for building and operating cloud-native integrations and services.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer and manage the data infrastructure for Workjam, ensuring data is structured, stored, and accessed efficiently, securely, and in alignment with manufacturing and HR/business needs.
  • Design and maintain end-to-end data flows between Workjam and upstream/downstream systems (e.g., Workday, timekeeping/WFM, identity, analytics), including employee, organization, schedule, badge, and plant hierarchy data.
  • Define and maintain canonical data models, contracts, and mapping for Workjam integrations, ensuring consistency across multiple plants and rollout waves.
  • Design distributed, highly available integration patterns (batch, event-driven, APIs) that support Workjam as part of GM’s broader manufacturing collaboration ecosystem.
  • Develop, document, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices that integrate Workjam with enterprise platforms (Workday, HR/WFM, identity, analytics, GM One/GM internal tools as applicable).
  • Configure and oversee file-based, sFTP, and API-based integrations, including data validation, error handling, and reconciliation processes.
  • Partner with vendor technical teams (Workjam TAMs, integration specialists) to ensure joint designs and configurations meet GM standards and support future feature growth.
  • Support proofs of concept and new use cases (e.g., timecard/schedule views, data-as-a-service, IO Composer workflows) and transition successful POCs into production-grade integrations.
  • Ensure secure storage and transmission of sensitive data, including tokens, credentials, secrets, and personally identifiable information used by Workjam and its integrations.
  • Apply best practices for encryption, authentication, and authorization, leveraging GM’s enterprise identity platforms (e.g., Azure Entra ID) and API gateways.
  • Partner with Systems Configurators to ensure security groups, badge utilization, and target audiences in Workjam align with corporate access control, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with GM Security, Networking, and Compliance teams to meet audit, logging, and retention requirements for Workjam-related services.

  • Lead root cause analysis and remediation for data quality issues, interface failures, and performance problems impacting Workjam.
  • Define and maintain automated test coverage (unit, integration, end-to-end) for critical Workjam services and integration flows.
  • Support structured UAT, cutover, and hypercare activities for new plants and features, ensuring data and integrations are validated before and after go-live.
  • Engage with Manufacturing, HR, Operations, Communications, and IT stakeholders to understand business processes and requirements, translating them into sustainable technical designs for Workjam.
  • Partner closely with Systems Configurators – Workjam to ensure data structures, hierarchies, and integration behavior support the configuration and targeting model in the application.
  • Provide clear, concise communication of technical decisions, trade-offs, risks, and timelines to both technical and non-technical partners.
