Markon is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 3 to support DevOps engineering efforts for the Fort Meade Customer. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining DevOps infrastructure and automation solutions to enable efficient build, deployment, and operational processes. This position supports cloud-based and containerized environments, driving automation, scalability, and reliability across mission systems. Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline plus 20 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing and managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab and Argo CD.
  • Experience working with AWS cloud platforms and services.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python.
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability tools (e.g., Elasticsearch, Grafana, Prometheus).
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, DevOps-focused environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and managing AWS infrastructure using Terraform, including auto-scaling and managed services.
  • Experience with Kubernetes storage classes (e.g., GP3, Longhorn, EBS).
  • Familiarity with Helm charts and deploying FOSS tools within Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience with tools such as PGAdmin or similar database management utilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain DevOps infrastructure and automation solutions supporting multiple teams.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Write and maintain scripts using languages such as Python to automate provisioning and operational tasks.
  • Install, configure, and optimize Kubernetes environments, including logging and monitoring tools such as Elasticsearch, Grafana, and Prometheus.
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, GitLab runners, and Argo CD.
  • Support and manage AWS cloud infrastructure, including services such as EC2, Lambda, EKS, RDS, S3, EFS, and EBS.
  • Collaborate with development teams to improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues to ensure system uptime and operational stability.
  • Support container orchestration and deployment using Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across engineering teams and stakeholders.
