About The Position

AERMOR is seeking a Systems Engineer III who will provide advanced technical expertise in the design, development, and integration of hybrid software, web, and hardware products. This role requires experience across the full lifecycle of system development — from initial specifications through design, coding, testing, rollout, and ongoing maintenance. The Systems Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the design and development of U.S. Navy Navigation Systems, ensuring system effectiveness, reliability, and compliance with mission requirements. This is not a remote position.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of IT professional experience overseeing hybrid system development projects from initial design through sustainment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating operating systems, applications, and hardware devices.
  • Experience with full lifecycle systems engineering (specification, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support).
  • At least 3–5 years of experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles in DoD or complex system environments.
  • Experience developing system models using SysML and MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Capella, or similar).
  • Ability to establish and maintain requirements traceability within a model-based environment.
  • Experience conducting trade studies and architectural analysis using model-driven approaches.
  • Ability to assess technical, cost, schedule, and broader project impacts.
  • At least 5 years of technical experience in the design and development of U.S. Navy Navigation Systems in one (1) or more of the following specialized areas: Printed Circuit Board (PCB) interface protocols (I/Os) Digital design using state-of-the-art microprocessors Analog, power, and/or RF design

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation and integration of hybrid software, web, and hardware systems from concept to deployment.
  • Integrate network operating systems, application programs, and hardware devices through system specification, design, coding, testing, and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain system architecture models using MBSE methodologies (e.g., SysML) to support requirements decomposition, interface definition, behavior modeling, and verification planning.
  • Establish and manage digital system models to ensure traceability between requirements, architecture, design elements, and test artifacts.
  • Support development of system requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and architecture artifacts using model-based approaches.
  • Perform system modeling activities including operational views, logical and physical architectures, interface definitions, and parametric analyses.
  • Ensure bidirectional traceability between mission requirements, system functions, hardware/software components, and verification methods.
  • Facilitate model reviews, configuration management, and model governance in alignment with DoD and Navy standards.
  • Evaluate overall project design considerations including technical feasibility, cost, schedule, cybersecurity, and potential operational impacts.
  • Provide technical support for the design, development, and testing of U.S. Navy Navigation Systems.
  • Ensure systems meet operational and technical requirements while adhering to established standards.
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, trade studies, and system performance evaluations using model-driven data.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts, applying lessons learned to future designs and development processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, software, cybersecurity, test, and integration) to maintain alignment between system models and implementation.
