About The Position

This position is for an experienced system engineer who can work with multi-disciplinary teams using the Systems Engineering Processes to develop, maintain, verify and/or operate spacecraft programs that includes Mission, Segment, Element (payload, spacecraft bus, and ground) and/or Subsystems scope. The specific tasking will vary based on the lifecycle of the program and can include the following below: The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers’ missions. What You’ll Do: Develop, update, and test mission operations products such as command execution scripts, alarm limits, constraints, operating procedures, training material, or tools. Contribute to the planning and successful execution of rehearsals, test events, launch, commissioning, and/or early operations. Collaborate and coordinate with subject matter experts. This may include tasks such as technical review meetings, account and logistics support, and team briefings & training. Provide systems engineering support of technical teams in the development, verification, delivery, and operations of Missions, Segments, Elements, and Subsystems. Support the proper allocation, traceability, and verification of requirements at all levels through the lifecycle of the program. Interact with multiple subject matter experts to develop the required allocation analysis and verification artifacts. Interface with and support the program’s lead system engineer, chief engineer and customer. Support expectations, preparations, and delivery for major gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, PSR). Coordinate requirements verification with I&T activities. Coordinate with and assist other engineering disciplines and IPTs as assigned. Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for architecture to requirements traceability and interface development. Mentor other system engineers assigned to the team. Support the program Risk & Opportunity Management and ERB processes. Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers. Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 2 years or more of System Engineering, System Traceability, or Spacecraft Engineering related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Experience using requirements database tools (DOORS, Jama, Cameo Requirements Modeler, e.g.).
  • Experience with Cameo Enterprise Architecture, SysML and DoDAF/UAF/UPDM.
  • The ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams including meeting schedule and performance goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to review effective and verifiable requirements – detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, requirement allocation, change management, verification and validation – a self-starter that will own this activity with the proper guidance.
  • Good presentation skills with experience presenting to senior decision making and technical audiences.
  • A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

  • Related experience in either mission systems, spacecraft systems, ground systems or payloads preferred.
