NISSC 3 Systems Engineer II
About The Position
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking out next Systems Engineer II!!!! As a Systems Engineer II on the NISSC 3 program , you will support technical planning, requirements management, configuration, integration, verification, and sustainment for mission-critical systems. You will participate in engineering investigations, system audits, and process improvement efforts while ensuring solutions remain aligned with contract, customer, and system objectives. You will help lead requirements analysis, technical risk management, documentation, obsolescence tracking, and system testing, and will oversee the development and review of technical deliverables and engineering plans to meet program needs.
Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, or closely related engineering roles, preferably in DoD or mission-critical environments.
- Proficiency in technical planning, requirements management, and configuration management for complex systems.
- Experience leading or supporting engineering investigations and ensuring alignment with technical baselines and system objectives.
- Experience developing and managing technical documentation and engineering plans.
- Experience supporting risk management and process improvement efforts across the engineering lifecycle.
- Familiarity with tools such as: - CAMEO - DOORS - IDSS - Sparx EA (or similar MBSE/modeling and requirements tools)
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following (or closely related field): Information Technology (IT) / Cybersecurity / Computer Science (CS) / Information Systems (IS) / Data Science / Software Engineering OR equivalent DoD/Military training and experience in systems engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Active Secret clearance at time of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI as required by the program.

Responsibilities
- Perform technical planning, requirements analysis, allocation, and traceability across system components and interfaces.
- Support system integration, verification, validation, and auditing activities to ensure compliance with technical baselines and requirements.
- Lead or support engineering investigations for system issues and anomalies; contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Execute requirements management and configuration activities to maintain coherent and controlled technical baselines.
- Support technical risk management, including identification, analysis, mitigation planning, and tracking.
- Contribute to engineering process improvement and best practices across the system lifecycle.
- Track and document obsolescence risks and impacts; support sustainment planning and mitigation strategies.
- Oversee or support development, review, and approval of technical deliverables (e.g., specifications, interface documents, design descriptions).
- Develop and manage technical documentation, engineering plans, training inputs, and supportability analyses aligned with program needs.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (systems, software, test, logistics, cybersecurity) to ensure integrated solutions and consistent technical posture.
