About The Position

Collins Aerospace is looking for an experienced Reliability & Safety Engineer with 2-5 years of experience working with electronic and mechanical systems. This engineer will be responsible for performing Reliability and Safety analysis for new and existing avionics product designs. This is a hybrid role based in Melbourne, Florida.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Basic circuit analysis knowledge is required.
  • Ability to read schematics and electronic specifications
  • Basic knowledge of reliability analysis techniques
  • Knowledge of writing technical reports

Nice To Haves

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of ARP4761 OR Mil-Std 882, basic knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, DO-178B/C, DO-297
  • Experience with CAFTA or similar Fault Tree analysis tools
  • Understanding of Project Management

Responsibilities

  • Perform Reliability analysis such as Reliability Predictions, Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • Perform safety assessment process in accordance with ARP4761 or MIL-STD-882E, including but not limited to, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Preliminary System Safety Assessments (PSSAs), System Safety Assessments (SSAs), Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs)
  • Support systems, hardware, and software engineering teams in defining system safety requirements during development activity
  • Review of design and development documentation for safety critical functions
  • Mentor and train less experienced RMS engineers
  • Accountable to team members and organizational leadership for committed work and responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain expertise in assigned areas (program, function, process, technology, etc)
  • Collaborate with internal customers, stakeholders, and organizational leaders to develop plans
  • Use your effective oral/written communication skills (including technical writing)
