About The Position

As a Metrea Algorithmics systems engineer you will work with Operations team lead, Development team lead, and Mission Stakeholder or Thread Lead as the Lead Systems Engineer dedicated to Operational activities. Must be able to to understand project requirements, capabilities development, and operational effects to guide a team to support all facets of the DevOps life cycle (Plan, Dev, Build, test, CM, deployment, operations, monitoring, troubleshooting, and other sustainment activities). Must have strong technical experience to effectively communicate with developers and customers. Communication skills required to digest and delegate tasks to development and customer facing teams. This role supports a large software development program developing, operating, and maintaining mission critical enterprise capabilities. Program includes development and support for existing mission systems in parallel with efforts to develop and deliver modernized cyber analysis, orchestration, and data enrichment products. The team applies Agile methodology, DevOps principles and test-driven development practices.

Requirements

  • Moderate Microsoft Office skills.

  • Education: Bachelors degree in an engineering field or related
  • Experience: 20 years of system engineer experience
  • Computer skills: VMWare, Rancher, Kubernetes, Docker, Automation using Ansible, Selenium, Monitoring tools using Grafana, Xymon, Kibana, Nexus Server, Git, Linux VMs, Build and ensure monitoring resources, Grafana, create/update/maintain Dashboards.
  • Expert in capturing customer requirements and assisting in the development of statements of work (SOW), plans of action and milestones, and customer interactions.
  • Basic understanding of the policies, processes, priorities, and organization of the US Government in general, and the Department of Defense in particular, around national security matters.
  • Moderate knowledge of the human terrain around the US Government's ISR and cyberspace community.
  • Ability to interact with industry, scientific, technology, military, policy, and finance communities and utilized knowledge gained to support logistical operations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across cultures, regions and industries, and experience in working in diverse international environments.
  • Flexibility to travel frequently and on short notice, both domestic and internationally.
  • Highly developed sense of judgement and maturity.
  • Intellectually curious, with strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new environments and pick up new subjects quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Applies systems engineering principles throughout the systems life cycle phases: Concept, Development, Production, Utilization, Support, and Retirement.
  • Interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflicts.
  • Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives.
  • Responsibility for the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work performed and deliverables associated with one or more of the 25 process areas
  • People Development: Identify areas of growth in Metrea's knowledge, skillsets, and attitudes, and develop a systematic approach to professional development and talent acquisition in order to build a high-performing systems engineering team.
  • Technology Development: Support the identification RF software, hardware, and infrastructure requirements to support Metrea and MAS and create a roadmap framework across Metrea Aerospace.
  • Support the Strategy (STRAT) BCA to inform enterprise strategy with key MAS and Metrea Aerospace considerations and remain an active participant on all major enterprise engineering decisions, to include the commencement of new software, hardware, and infrastructure capabilities.
  • Support the STRAT/Risk team by informing on engineering needs of the business and the risk exposure dashboards with MAS and Metrea Aerospace risks, as well as by supporting risk mitigation efforts.
  • Work closely with the MAX and the Electromagnetic Cyber Group (EMCG) Leadership Team to inform the design, implementation, and further development of Metrea Aerospace's technical and engineering methodologies.
  • As required, provide LEG/Compliance with the EMCG's inputs that are required to perform all necessary compliance functions and ensure that Metrea's compliance policies cover all known requirements as required.
  • As required, work closely with LEG/Contracts to ensure that contract structuring & economics supports business objectives and customer requirements.
