About The Position

Nelson Mullins is seeking an early-career System Enginee r I to join our Information Technology team in the Columbia headquarters. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate within a dynamic, service‑oriented environment, providing a wide range of hands‑on technical support across the firm. You will help resolve Help Desk tickets, perform Tier 1 troubleshooting, and contribute to infrastructure initiatives that span on‑premises systems, cloud platforms, and office construction or expansion projects. The pace is fast and the work is varied—ideal for a resourceful problem‑solver who communicates clearly, stays organized, and takes pride in delivering excellent client service to internal stakeholders. A Day in the Life As a System Engineer I, you will install and configure hardware, assist with deployments, and support routine system maintenance and security patching. You’ll document processes with care, manage a steady flow of requests through our ticketing system to meet defined service levels, and escalate appropriately when needed. You’ll coordinate with colleagues across IT to support projects, travel to firm offices when required, and ensure accuracy and consistency in all work products. We Know You A successful candidate will bring foundational experience supporting end users in an enterprise environment—typically 1–2 years of IT support, help desk, or internship/co-op work—demonstrating strong professional attributes in analytical thinking, multi-tasking, and problem-solving. Familiarity with IT service management (ticketing, triage, and SLA adherence) is essential, as is demonstrated initiative and self-direction in a fast-paced setting. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and a strong work ethic are required, along with the ability to work under time-intensive deadlines and occasionally outside standard business hours for maintenance. Excellent written and oral communication skills are expected, as well as proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and core Windows administration fundamentals.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, plus CompTIA A+ certification
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting Windows endpoints, O365 apps (Outlook/Teams/OneDrive), and basic networking concepts
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to manage priorities in a ticketing workflow
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and willingness to travel as needed
