About The Position

i3 is searching for a Systems Architect to support the Missile Defense Agency Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) effort. The mission is to design and implement a Missile Defense System with multiple layers of protection. The Systems Architect devises, configures, implements, operates and maintains hardware, software and computer and network systems. Evaluates technology options to ensure the system meets the needs of the organization and develops strategies for scalability, risk management, compliance, and maintainability.  This position is located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, or related field is required. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • An approved DoD 8140 Certification – CCSP, CSSLP, GSEC, CISSP, CISSO, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSEP
  • Active Secret clearance required. Must be able to maintain the security clearance required for this position.
  • Must reside within a 75-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL or be willing to relocate prior to start date.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the office as business needs dictate.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for candidates with prior experience supporting the MDA or missile test data environments, including familiarity with data flow, system integration, or analysis processes unique to test missions.
  • Strong understanding of data management principles, including ingestion, parsing, cataloging, and metadata validation.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with scripting languages such as Python or R for data preparation and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of metadata standards, data dictionaries, and validation procedures.
  • Experience developing dashboards and visual reports in Power BI or Tableau.
  • Ability to analyze data quality and performance metrics to identify process bottlenecks or anomalies.
  • Strong communication skills; capable of translating technical data findings for non-technical audiences and leadership.
  • Understanding of data governance policies, retention schedules, and secure handling of classified information.
  • Collaborative and analytical mindset with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and adept at managing multiple priorities in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, engineer, and deploy technical innovations and solutions for complex enterprise systems and networks
  • Develop long term program lifecycle management strategy for new enterprise IT capabilities and value proposition within MDA programs.
  • Analyze current government/defense stakeholder capabilities and requirements to determine ways to improve design, capabilities, and concept of operations.
  • Propose and establish framework for necessary contributions from various departments.
  • Creates architectural approaches for software design and implementation.
  • Ability to implement technical solutions, train team members and transition to sustainment teams.
  • Collaborate with other professionals to determine functional and non-functional requirements for new software or applications.
  • Work closely with project management and functional teams to successfully monitor progress of initiatives.
  • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
  • Monitor and assess newly implemented solutions and analyze metrics that indicate improvement or potential issues.
  • Analyze enterprise business strategies to determine corresponding changes in infrastructure architectures to meet the on-going service demands of the enterprise.
  • Lead and coordinate the road mapping and evolution of enterprise data and system implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned, but not limited to proposals, architectural design documentation, technical roadmaps, etc.
