Role summary: The Systems and Infrastructure Engineer III, Information Security, plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable infrastructure solutions. This role requires expertise in risk analysis, capacity planning, and configuration management to support business objectives effectively. The engineers will collaborate across teams to enhance system resilience, optimize resource utilization, and uphold security policies, contributing to the continuous improvement of Walmart’s information security posture and infrastructure reliability. About the team: The team specializes in securing complex enterprise environments by designing and implementing advanced IoT and OT security solutions. It manages a wide range of devices including sensors, cameras, robots, and industrial automation platforms while ensuring compliance with security standards. Focused on collaboration, the team develops scalable, secure infrastructure aligned with business goals. Members apply expertise in security controls, network management, and software development to protect critical systems and maintain operational resilience across Walmart’s extensive technology landscape. This group provides expert guidance to stakeholders, driving innovation and robust defense strategies.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with security controls and network security management in complex environments.
  • Proficiency in applying NIST Cybersecurity Framework and conducting vulnerability scanning to enhance cyber defense.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure design, including disaster recovery, scalability, and system security planning.
  • Expertise in automation tools and scripting languages to streamline operational technology security and CI/CD processes.
  • Ability to analyze and scope technical requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance standards.
  • Skilled in configuration and capacity management to optimize IT resources and maintain infrastructure performance.
  • Demonstrated capability in issue resolution and risk assessment within information security domains.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity, or related area and 2years’ experience in systems and infrastructure engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in systems and infrastructure engineering or related area at a technology, retail, or data-driven company.

  • Certification in Security+, GISF, CISSP, CCSP, or GSEC
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable, secure infrastructure solutions aligned with business and security requirements.
  • Implement and maintain system security plans, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
  • Automate infrastructure tasks using scripting and configuration management tools to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Perform routine infrastructure maintenance including backups, patch management, and system audits.
  • Collaborate on capacity planning and resource rightsizing to meet current and future demands.
  • Analyze and resolve moderate complex technical issues, providing feasible solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards and security policies during software development and deployment.
