About The Position

The Systems Administrator will be responsible for bridging operational needs with infrastructure reliability. This role goes beyond routine maintenance; it will be expected to manage virtualized environments, complex database systems, and a diverse server fleet. The candidate must be fluent in virtual infrastructure and Microsoft SQL Server management. Familiarity with network administration and security operations is essential to maintaining the integrity and performance of the enterprise IT environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required
  • 1–5 years of experience in a systems administration or infrastructure support role
  • Hands-on experience with hyperconverged or virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere or Nutanix)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration (backups, maintenance plans, performance tuning)
  • Experience administering both Windows Server and Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment
  • Familiarity with core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, firewall rules)
  • Foundational understanding of information security principles and best practices
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work methodically through complex issues
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to document processes and procedures clearly

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain the enterprise Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) environment, encompassing Prism Central and AHV hypervisor administration
  • Provision, monitor, and optimize virtual machine performance; supervise storage pools, snapshots, and comprehensive VM lifecycle operations
  • Execute firmware and software updates on Nutanix clusters while adhering to established change management protocols
  • Conduct cluster health monitoring and alerting to guarantee high availability and conduct proactive capacity planning
  • Support Microsoft SQL Server instances across development and production environments
  • Perform routine database maintenance including backups, index optimization, integrity checks, and log management
  • Assist with SQL Server patching, version upgrades, and configuration tuning
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, performance, and availability issues in coordination with development and operations teams
  • Manage a mixed environment of Windows Server (2019) and Linux (Ubuntu) systems
  • Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificate services
  • Perform OS patching, hardening, and lifecycle management across all platforms
  • Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting tools
  • Assist with the configuration and maintenance of firewalls, switches, routers, and VPN infrastructure
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and support VLAN/subnet management
  • Participate in vulnerability scanning, remediation, and security incident response
  • Support implementation of security policies, access controls, and compliance requirements
  • Manage endpoint protection, MFA, and identity security platforms
