About The Position

Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to manage, maintain, and secure critical government IT infrastructure and systems. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and cloud environments while ensuring system availability, performance, and security. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of network infrastructure, security best practices, system administration, and cloud computing technologies.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of system management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field required
  • DOD 8570 IAT II certifications required (Security+ or equivalent)
  • Expert knowledge of computer networking concepts, protocols, and security methodologie
  • Strong understanding of LAN/WAN architecture and pathways
  • Proficiency with bandwidth management principles and techniques
  • Expert knowledge of network traffic flow including TCP/IP and OSI model
  • Experience with performance tuning tools and techniques
  • Proficiency with remote access technologies and VPN security
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, directory services)
  • Experience using common network tools (ping, traceroute, nslookup)
  • Knowledge of file system implementations (NTFS, FAT, EXT)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and virtual machine management
  • Strong understanding of IT security principles and methods (firewalls, DMZs, encryption)
  • Knowledge of network security architecture concepts (topology, protocols, defense-in-depth)
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities
  • Knowledge of national and international cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies
  • Experience implementing organizational IT user security policies (account management, access control)
  • Understanding of data security standards (PII, PCI, PHI)
  • Proficiency in system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques
  • Experience deploying and managing software-based computer protection tools (firewalls, antivirus, antispyware)
  • Knowledge of transmission records (Bluetooth, RFID, IR, Wi-Fi) and jamming techniques
  • Proficiency with server and client operating systems
  • Strong systems administration knowledge and best practices
  • Understanding of enterprise IT architecture
  • Experience with system/server diagnostic tools and fault identification
  • Proficiency with operating system command line operations (ipconfig, netstat, dir, nbtstat)
  • Experience with system maintenance procedures (cleaning, disk checks, reboots, backups)
  • Knowledge of cloud computing service models (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS)
  • Understanding of cloud computing deployment models (private, public, hybrid)
  • Experience with cloud security strategy and architecture
  • Experience migrating workloads between cloud service models

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain server and client operating systems in enterprise environments
  • Configure and manage network infrastructure including LAN/WAN architecture, routers, switches, and pathways
  • Implement and maintain network protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and directory services
  • Monitor and optimize bandwidth management and network traffic flow using TCP/IP and OSI model principles
  • Utilize performance tuning tools and techniques to ensure optimal system and network performance
  • Configure and manage remote access technologies and VPN security
  • Use common network tools including ping, traceroute, and nslookup for troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Manage file system implementations including NTFS, FAT, and EXT
  • Implement and manage virtualization technologies and virtual machine environments
  • Apply IT security principles and methods including firewalls, DMZs, and encryption
  • Implement network security architecture using defense-in-depth strategies
  • Apply cybersecurity principles to protect systems against threats and vulnerabilities
  • Ensure compliance with national and international cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies
  • Enforce organizational IT user security policies including account management and access control
  • Protect sensitive data in accordance with data security standards (PII, PCI, PHI)
  • Perform system administration, network, and operating system hardening
