About The Position

Toyon is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator for this full-time position. The successful candidate will have a strong background in network and Windows Server administration; a firm understanding of NIST 800-171/CMMC requirements and implementation of technical controls; excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; and the ability to work well both independently and in a team setting. Our Systems Administration team is relied upon to empower our users with robust reliable solutions, while reducing toil, technical debt, and downtime.

Requirements

  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field preferred
  • Firm understanding of NIST 800-171/CMMC requirements
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following scripting languages: Python, Bash, PowerShell
  • Extensive experience configuring and maintaining network switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and their corresponding applications e.g. 802.1x, vLANs, Dynamic Routing Algorithms, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Expertise with Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems through all layers of the OSI reference model
  • Self-starter with interest in expanding existing knowledge of technical systems
  • Desire to eliminate manual and repetitive tasks through automation
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense security clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Stewardship of systems and network infrastructure, ensuring network systems are operating in an optimal manner
  • Expanding observability to improve decision making and reduce time to resolution
  • Backups of systems and regular testing of backups
  • Patching and hardening systems to meet compliance requirements
  • Working in tandem with our Service Desk and Site Reliability Engineering teams to provide performant, reliable, and secure services
  • Continual improvement of systems performance, reliability, and compliance
  • Maintenance and improvement of system documentation
  • Incident response handling and root cause analysis.
