About The Position

The Systems Administrator, Senior plays a key role in delivering secure, scalable, and resilient IT services across a hybrid environment that includes on-premises infrastructure and cloud-based systems. This role provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Windows Server (2016–2025), Active Directory, Microsoft 365, VMware, and core enterprise systems. Responsibilities include managing user identities, group policies, file/print services, and maintaining critical server hardware, software, storage, and backups (e.g., Dell PowerStore, Cohesity). The administrator participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation, handles patching and recovery, and collaborates with internal teams and vendors to ensure reliable, integrated operations. Success in this role requires sound judgment, adaptability, and a focus on automation and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Four years of relevant work experience aligning with duties and responsibilities of the role
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with at least A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience administering Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) with strong expertise in Active Directory (on-prem and Azure), Intune, and Microsoft 365 services including Exchange and SharePoint Online
  • Experience working in team-based delivery models (such as Agile, Scrum, and/or Kanban) across multiple concurrent initiatives
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues using diagnostic tools, analytical methods, and technical research
  • Experience with PowerShell automation, VMware vSphere, Azure hybrid identity, Microsoft SQL Server (2015+), and enterprise storage and backup solutions such as Cohesity
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Administrator, MCSE, or MCITP, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and govern comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, configuration standards, inventories, and operational procedures, using tools such as Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, Jira, or similar platforms
  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation resource for complex infrastructure and system issues, providing advanced troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and guidance to Tier 1 and Tier 2 support teams
  • Monitor, assess, and optimize system performance, reliability, and capacity; recommend and implement improvements using established and emerging technologies
  • Conduct routine and ad-hoc security, backup, and recovery audits, ensuring alignment with disaster recovery, business continuity, and COSC security requirements
  • Administer, support, and optimize Windows Server environments (2016, 2019, 2022, 2025) and VMware virtual infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, patching, and lifecycle management
  • Utilize PowerShell and other scripting tools to automate infrastructure administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities
  • Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance, participate in on-call rotations, and respond to afterhours operational incidents as required
  • Provide core infrastructure support across directory services, identity management, Group Policy, login scripts, storage platforms, networking components, and foundational services such as DNS and DHCP
  • Administer and support Microsoft identity and productivity platforms, including Active Directory (on premises and Azure AD), Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online), and Azure hybrid identity configurations
  • Maintain and enforce infrastructure standards by keeping server images, firmware, configurations, and system software current and compliant with lifecycle and patch management practices
  • Support and maintain data center hardware and platforms, including Dell PowerEdge servers, PowerStore storage, and Cohesity backup solutions
  • Monitor, communicate, and escalate system outages, service interruptions, performance degradation, or security risks to minimize operational impact
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to plan, coordinate, and resolve infrastructure issues using IT industry standards and formal change management processes
