About The Position

The Marriott School of Business at Brigham Young University is seeking a dynamic and qualified individual to lead the Systems and Support IT Team. This role, as Systems Administrator/IT Manager, involves overseeing critical production servers and applications essential for the college's core business operations. A proactive and strategic approach is required to ensure continuous availability and recoverability of systems and data. Additionally, the position is responsible for directing the IT Support Desk operations, providing technology issue resolution, and employee training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, IT, or a closely related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of work experience and education plus 2 years’ experience in systems administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • 6 years of experience in systems administration and management (planning, engineering, and implementing enterprise scale servers) on both Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Certifications in Linux Systems Administration
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate
  • IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Operations Management (ITOM)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration, performance, and security of enterprise Windows and Linux systems supporting college operations.
  • Ensure system reliability through proactive monitoring, backup management, and disaster recover planning.
  • Oversee and develop a team of student IT support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues and provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain system security, and support desk policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Lead cybersecurity efforts for the college, including prevention, response, and mitigation of potential threats.
  • Partner with BYU OIT and campus stakeholders to align on infrastructure, security, and enterprise technology services.
  • Manage and contribute to IT projects, including system implementations, upgrades, and building or infrastructure initiatives.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement technology solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and user experience.
  • Support IT budgeting, hardware and software purchasing, and long-term resource planning.
