About The Position

Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of Systems Administrator (Unix/Linux/Mac) for our DAC (Data Analysis Center) customer. We are looking for a Systems Administrator (O/S) who will be a strong addition to the team. The selected individual will join a collaborative team environment where they will provide expertise and support, including helping to define the projects objectives, support quality control, and support coordinating the efforts of team members to deliver projects according to plan. Key to the success of this position is the successful delivery of projects, and effective communication to all levels of staff for reporting project status. Requirements

  • BA or BS Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of overall applicable experience highly preferred
  • Minimum requirement is HS Diploma with 7+ years of overall applicable experience.
  • Interim Secret is allowed until full Secret clearance.
  • Obtain and maintain (if don't already possess) a computing environment certification relevant to job duties (must have within 6 months of hire)
  • DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification at time of hire
  • Experience with Red Hat servers using existing enterprise tools including Satellite, Puppet, Ansible, JAMF, Centrify.
  • Experience with Red Hat servers running Apache, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Postfix, Nessus, ACAS Security Center, Samba, Splunk, Ansible Tower.
  • Experience with writing custom bash scripts.
  • Experience with implementing STIG checklists.
  • Familiar with RMF processes and artifacts.
  • Experience with developing and administering full RHEL and Mac desktop integration with Windows services.
  • Experience with user PKI authentication with Active Directory integration.
  • Experience with security tools such as ACAS.
  • Experience in evaluating hardware and software being considered for implementation.
  • Experience with RHEL system concepts and system designs.
  • Experience in making recommendations that addresses the future performance needs of enterprise services.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance and server patching.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to follow instructions and provide support to all team members.

Responsibilities

  • Administer Red Hat servers using existing enterprise tools such as Satellite, Puppet, Ansible, JAMF, and Centrify.
  • Administer services running on Red Hat servers such as Apache, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Postfix, Nessus, ACAS Security Center, Samba, Splunk, and Ansible Tower.
  • Write custom bash scripts to accomplish various administration tasks.
  • Troubleshoot system outages and issues to resolve the problem and recover the services to maximum performance in the shortest amount of time possible.
  • Ensure that all client services, including underlying hardware and software, meet all DoD 8500 series and NIST 800-53 security requirements.
  • Develop systems architecture and other system engineering/administration documentation.
  • Create test plans to allow for a proper evaluation of hardware and software being considered for implementation.
  • Provide the client with a written test plan for approval prior to implementation.
  • Provide written testing results prior to putting systems into production.
  • Provide written evaluations of system concepts, system designs, and system support program proposals.
  • Research, develop, demonstrate, integrate, and test innovative technologies.
  • Implement and monitor testing and installation of patches, updates, additional tools and future versions of software.
  • Ensure the server logs are kept on a central log server, such as Splunk, and are provided to the ISSM (Information Systems Security Manager) upon request.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and server patching in accordance with ACAS scans.
  • Install patches on the client servers and workstations.
  • Ensure compliance with Cybersecurity Vulnerability Alerts and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
  • Assist in technical evaluation of the vendor submissions for compliance with client specifications.
  • Participate in Change Management Control process and submit Requests for Change.
  • Develop and administer RHEL and Mac desktop integration with Windows services.
  • Support user PKI authentication with Active Directory integration.
  • Support end user RHEL and MacOS desktop issues and requests.
