The role supports the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport Division (NUWCDIVKPT) Detachment Pacific (Code 04/TDC), which acts as NUWC’s forward presence in the Middle Pacific, Guam, and Western Pacific (WESTPAC). This detachment handles program management, facility operations, safety, security, personnel administration, environmental compliance, emergency preparedness, and site material readiness. The Systems Administrator (IT Generalist) reports to the Program Manager and will manage servers and network infrastructure, monitor system performance, and configure new software and hardware for the Ford Island Simulation Technology Testing Facility (FIST2FAC) under the Hawaii Detachments Support Services contract. This includes corporate, RDT&E unclassified and classified, Secret Defense Research and Engineering Network, NMCI unclassified and classified systems, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure. The position is located on Ford Island (Honolulu, HI).

Requirements

  • An active Secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Education, Technical, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Engineering, Technology, Design, Management.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in information technology, system administration, hardware, and software support in unclassified or unclassified environments.
  • Strong focus on delivering tested, high-quality solutions aligned with design specifications.
  • Proven technical leadership across teams including development, architecture, business analysis, and support.
  • Current Cybersecurity Workforce Journeyman-level certification qualifying for Privileged Access Account (PAA).
  • Self-starter with ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of IT, systems administration, hardware, & software support experience in unclassified environments is desired.
  • Proficient in scripting/programming languages such as Python, C++, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) qualified individual.
  • Any VMware certification, legacy or recent, and/or VMware system administrator experience.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) vSphere Foundation Support (2VO-18.25) VMware Certified Professional (VCP) vSphere Foundation Administrator (2VO-16.25) or higher certification.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Windows 10 certification.
  • CCNA certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs programming analysis, gathers facts from users, and investigates the feasibility of solving problems through new or modified computer programs.
  • Support system integration and testing which includes laboratory and live assets system administration.
  • Support configuration, receiving, movement and shipping of the laboratory, network, hardware and software to support test events.
  • Perform maintenance on the laboratory equipment and retain the compliance documentation IAW Department of Defense Cybersecurity Service Provider requirements.
  • Maintains records to document program development and revisions.
  • Configures and upgrades Internal Systems/Network Infrastructure to include servers, networks and firewall devices.
  • Perform system administration, vulnerability scans and install patches.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoots technical issues, including applications, network connectivity and physical assets.
  • Develop specifications for data inputs, flow, actions, decisions and outputs.
  • Monitor the operation of assigned programs and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding.
  • Perform backup and recovery operations.
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
