About The Position

General Description and Classification Standards: Defines, designs and implements network communications and solutions. This is a fully seasoned professional level (senior level) capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the profession with limited guidance or review. This level would be considered a promotional level and attainable by any incumbents in a work group who demonstrate the necessary knowledge, ability and performance. Salary Range: $80,594.95- $107,594.26 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Sets up administrator and service accounts. Maintains system documentation. Tunes system performance. Installs system wide software and allocates mass storage space. Engages in and supports any new modules or technologies added. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Creates accounts and grants access for all onboarding employees. Monitors and responds to security threats. Provides on call support when necessary. Responds to special project needs. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software and coordinates installation and back up recovery. Identifies problems and proposes solutions. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related use of computing resources. Provides training to other employees. May perform other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Knowledge of concepts, processes and tools within professional area.
  • Well-developed network technical skills.
  • Skills in organizing and presenting information, proposals etc.
  • Ability to plan and carry out virtually all typical assignments within network administration.
  • Ability to build effective relationships within the City and to train others.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering (equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis); and three (3) years of specific network experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering with five (5) – eight (8) years of directly related professional work.
