About The Position

Valiant Integrated Services, a prominent leader in the Defense Services industry, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled System Administrator II-Cyber Technician for the Army at the Mission Training Complex (MTC) at JBLM, Washington.  This full-time position involves, but not limited to maintaining the cybersecurity workstations, along with the computers residing on the Army’s NIPR and SIPR Domains. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to maintain strong communication and collaboration with military customers, government officials, and contract staff, working closely with department leads, government leadership, and the contract Program Manager to ensure successful program execution.

Requirements

  • CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:  Active U.S. DoD Secret (S) or Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • EDUCATION:  One of the following:
  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Cybersecurity and/or Information Assurance (IA).
  • Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, Cybersecurity and/or IA, or related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in one of these fields.
  • Master's degree in CS, IT, Cybersecurity and/or IA, or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience in one of these fields.
  • CERTIFICATONS:
  • Meet DoD 8570.01-M Baseline Computing Environment (CE) Certification Requirements at Information Assurance Technical Level II (IAT II) or must meet the minimum DoD 8140 DCWF equivalent requirements (Intermediate). Currently the position requires CompTIA Security+, but might include additional certifications at a later time.
  • Must be able to successfully meet all training required of DoD computing environments for all supported systems within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience as a federation manager of High-Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) training federations
  • Able to work independently and act as lead when section team lead is unavailable.
  • Must be able to work on-site at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10-15% of the time).
  • Must be a disciplined worker capable of meeting short suspenses.
  • Must have excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to document and update processes and perform tasks under deadlines.
  • Must be able to support shift work that occurs outside normal working hours to support 24/7 operations during exercise events that may be more than 40 hours per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DoD cybersecurity preferred.
  • Experience in Microsoft Server system administration preferred.
  • Experience in Linux Operating Systems preferred.
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) desired.
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of IA (Information assurance) and RMF 2.0 (Risk management Framework).
  • Knowledge and understanding or GRC (Governance Risk and Compliance) policies, process and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Administrative support for Linux, Windows server/workstations and site specific applications.
  • Provide system administration and maintain operations of HBSS servers.
  • Administer ePO tree structure management, policy catalog management, Resolve ePO server (O/S, ePO, or SQL) issues.
  • Maintain the ePO server (automated tasks, task scheduler, database maintenance tasks, etc.).
  • Use ACAS administration for the implementation and sustainment of government-mandated Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) system, which is comprised of Security Center, Nessus Scanner and the Nessus Network Monitor.
  • Provide automated network vulnerability scanning, configuration assessment, and network discovery using ACAS.
  • Apply provided patches to keep workstations and servers in compliance with DoD IAVM requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with policies and procedures including DoD STIG requirements.
  • Prepare reports on security incidents and changing responses.
  • Remain abreast of emergent technologies.
  • Some Responsibilities may include technical and functional requirements gathering, completing design documentation, and installation, configuration, and sustainment of the solution.
  • Advising other Teams on site policies, process and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
