About The Position

With minimal supervision, performs specific duties required to design, plan, secure and test data systems within the Seneca Gaming Corporation. This includes overseeing the overall maintenance and ensuring that systems are at optimal performance at all times. Researches enhancements and upgrades offered by hardware and/or software manufactures. The incumbent will identify the benefits or issues, along with recommendations based on commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures. Assists the Systems Engineering Manager in leading and directing the day to day work of the Systems Technicians. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Seneca Gaming Corporation’s policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
  • Equivalent to the completion of four (4) years of college coursework in computer science, management information systems or a closely related field or equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in enterprise systems including concepts such as switching, routing, security, wireless, compliance, SAN & high availability.
  • Five (5) plus years work experience with Microsoft Windows Servers. Working knowledge of commonly-used concepts, best practices, and procedures within Microsoft server environments. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft enterprise applications (2003/2008/2012 Server Enterprise, 2003/2010 Exchange Enterprise, SQL).
  • Must hold two (2) or more of the IT approved certificates within 90 days of employment.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware preferred).
  • Experience with wiring schemas including optic fiber required.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to write routine correspondence and to speak effectively to the public, employees, customers and vendors.
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers, vendors and employees.
  • Must be resourceful, utilizing all resources that are available to resolve issues.
  • Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment.
  • Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and move through all areas of the casino.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of sixty (60) pounds.
  • Must be able to maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure in a fast-paced, casino environment and effectively deal with customers, management, employees, and members of the business community in all situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience providing IT support in a 24-hour operational environment preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a casino is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Previous experience working in Microsoft Visio is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete work requests as directed by Systems Engineering Manager regarding installation of all systems, data, and network infrastructure equipment and coordinating work with vendors.
  • Receive and respond to incoming requests / trouble tickets regarding problems with infrastructure systems.
  • Create and update all documentation relating to disaster recovery policies and procedures for all the Corporation’s infrastructure systems.
  • Research enhancements to the infrastructure, identifying benefits and issues that could affect the Corporation’s current processes and procedures. Follow departmental procedures for production environment changes, and make recommendations as to the timing and implementation plan for said changes. Will take the lead in all upgrade implementations and the rollout of new systems.
  • Ensure that the infrastructure is in good working order and functioning properly.
  • Assist the Systems Engineering Manager with leading and directing the work of the Network Technicians.
  • Work with IT Security department to administer, maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the infrastructure.
  • Maintain a working knowledge and practical application of information security principles and practices as they relate to their job responsibilities. Proactively assess potential risks and vulnerabilities within the environment.
  • Maintain a current understanding of all policy and guidelines regarding information security including the Seneca Gaming Corporation Acceptable Use Policy. Understand and comply with all information security policies and procedures at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and communicates in a pleasant, friendly and professional manner at all times. Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers and staff.
  • Meet the attendance guidelines of the job and adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Must complete all required SGC Training programs within nine (9) months from commencement of employment.
  • Attend all necessary meetings.
