Join us in shaping a new era in space and find a career that's built for you.As a System Safety Engineer Tech Lead on the Fleet Ballistic Missile program, you will serve as the FBM Program System Safety Engineering subject matter expert, focusing on guiding the system safety hazard analysis strategy and ensuring quality across the various safety artifacts. In this role, you will: Define and lead the safety analysis technical approach across the FBM System Safety Engineering team for missile and reentry projects Serve as the focal point of contact with the SP customer for technical related safety issues Perform system and subsystem safety in accordance with MIL-STD-882E Collaborate with system and subsystem system, design, and test engineering teams to ensure designs/tests comply with safety requirements Collaborate across the FBM program integrated product teams (IPTs) to help foster a positive safety culture Prepare presentations and participate in program design and safety reviews as the system safety engineering subject matter expert. Review and provide feedback from the lens of safety into design artifacts, requirement specifications, or test procedures, ensuring they adhere to program safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in the engineering development lifecycle
  • Must have experience in requirements derivation, decomposition, and verification
  • Experience with contractual requirements and their execution throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Experience leading diverse engineering teams to identify hazards, assess and mitigate associated risks encountered in the design, development, test, production, use and/or disposal.
  • Active Secret therefore U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of a BS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent education
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Subject matter expert in the System Safety discipline.
  • Ability to interface with Customer and Program Management
  • Software Safety experience.
  • Experience working in System Safety Working Groups - SSWG, WSESRB, SSSTRP, etc
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and guiding the development of system safety engineers
  • Experience developing Basis of Estimates in support of System Safety Efforts
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience identifying critical hardware & software

Responsibilities
