About The Position

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. With a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees throughout the state, the Department is leading the way to A Safer Florida through the efficient and professional execution of its core mission: the issuance of driver licenses, vehicle tags and titles, and operation of the Florida Highway Patrol. The Sr. Project Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with agency strategies, commitments and goals. This Sr. Project Manager will also provide leadership, coaching and guidance to project teams on the use of project management tools and techniques to ensure that departmental policies, procedures, guidelines and best practices are being followed. This person consistently maintains excellent communication with management in different organizations, ensuring smooth execution of all projects handled by the Strategic Business Operations teams.

Requirements

  • Project budgeting skills.
  • Project management skills include the ability to organize and prioritize multiple complex projects.
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff, all levels of management.
  • Team-building skills with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of applications (including Microsoft Project) and/or familiar with project management technology tools (preferably the ServiceNow Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) web tool).
  • Proficiency in project management principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through project closure.
  • Ability to facilitate medium to large groups of people at various organizational levels for the purposes of planning, problem solving, or strategy development.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Identifying, assessing and mitigating project risk.
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in the use of project management technology tools such as Microsoft Project.
  • Working in and/or managing Governance processes.

  • PMP certification
  • bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited college/university or an associate’s degree in a computer related field.
