About The Position

The Post Install Quality Assurance team plays a pivotal role in ensuring that we deliver a perfect install packet to our Funding team while also ensuring our install team is following the necessary NEC, Local AHJ, and Utility requirements.

Requirements

  • Solar PV Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret electrical and structural plansets, line diagrams, and Solar Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Code Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and local building codes as they relate to solar installations.
  • Utility & Interconnection Standards: Understanding of utility-specific requirements for meter sets, labeling, and rapid shutdown systems.
  • Funding Partner Documentation: Keen eye for detail regarding specific photo requirements and site documentation needed to secure project funding.
  • Quality Control Auditing: Proficiency in remote site auditing via high-resolution photography to identify workmanship defects or safety hazards.
  • Conflict Resolution & De-escalation: Ability to have firm but professional conversations with field personnel or install crews regarding required corrections.
  • Clear Technical Writing: Skill in documenting "fail" reasons with specific, actionable instructions for return visits or repairs.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Experience working between Supply Chain, Design, and Field Ops to ensure project continuity.
  • Time Management: Proven ability to manage a high volume of audit "packets" under strict deadlines to ensure funding is not delayed.
  • Digital Proficiency: Expertise in using project management software and photo-sharing platforms to track installation progress.
  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Solar Design, Install, or Quality Assurance required.
  • Strong problem solving skills with a keen understanding of developing solutions required.
  • Quality eye for proper workmanship required.
  • Clear understanding of the solar process required.
  • Ability to multitask, and adjust quickly to new processes required.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with peers and others to ensure work is completed.

Nice To Haves

  • NABCEP or other solar certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Live Install Audits: Audit Install work via photos to ensure we are compliant with our Funding partners requirements, local AHJ requirements, Utility requirements, and matches our permitted Design.
  • Clear & Concise Communication with Install Teams: Communicate with the install teams on issues found during audit, develop a gameplan to ensure additional work is completed the same day, and if necessary make a return appointment to ensure this work gets completed.
  • Review & Understand Design Deliverables: Review Design deliverables to ensure plans, BOM, and other scopes of work are correct, and match the installed equipment.
  • Cannot Complete Disputes: Review any and all cannot complete disputes to determine if the reason selected is correct, and if not, what should be the corrected reason.
