About The Position

OTSI has an immediate opening for a System Manager 2. This is an onsite role focused on Red Hat Linux administration, requiring strong hands-on experience to independently support, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux environments, especially large fleets of servers. The role involves supporting both physical and virtualized servers within data center and on-prem infrastructure, handling break-fix issues and operational maintenance. Practical experience with enterprise virtualization technologies is essential. The position also requires working knowledge of configuration management tools like Puppet or Ansible, with sufficient hands-on experience and an understanding of configuration management at scale. Intermediate-level scripting skills (Bash, Python, or similar) are necessary, including the ability to read, write, and modify scripts. Basic cloud exposure, preferably with AWS, and an understanding of cloud provisioning concepts are also required.

Requirements

  • Strong, hands-on experience as a Red Hat Linux administrator
  • Ability to independently support, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux environments
  • Experience working with large fleets of servers
  • Experience supporting both physical and virtualized servers
  • Familiarity with data center environments and on-prem infrastructure
  • Ability to handle break-fix issues and operational maintenance
  • Practical experience with virtualization technologies in enterprise environments
  • Working knowledge of Puppet or Ansible
  • Approximately 6–12 months of hands-on experience sufficient (for configuration management)
  • Understanding of configuration management at scale
  • Intermediate-level scripting skills required (e.g., Bash, Python, or similar)
  • Ability to read, write, and modify scripts
  • Candidates cannot be new to scripting or coding concepts
  • Basic cloud experience
  • Understanding of cloud provisioning concepts
  • Experience transferable across cloud providers is acceptable
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant Linux administration experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Honest communication about skill levels and knowledge gaps
  • Stability in work history; short-term or frequent job changes viewed negatively
  • Practical skills valued more than industry or company size background

Nice To Haves

  • Puppet (preferred for configuration management)
  • Basic cloud experience, with preference for AWS
  • Up to ~5 years of relevant Linux administration experience
  • IT-related bachelor’s degree
