About the position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated System Engineer Manager to lead our team of system engineers and drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of our critical systems infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, proven leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering innovative solutions. The Systems Engineer Manager reports to the Director, Technology Operations in the Technology department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the End-user computing (EUC) system engineering team, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and integration of complex systems, including hardware, software, and network components that support EUC.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize system performance to meet or exceed business requirements.
  • Reduce manual processes through automation using scripting languages, third-party tools, etc.
  • Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to business operations.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of system engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Plan, execute, and deliver system engineering projects within defined scope, budget, and timeline constraints, leveraging Agile and/or Kanban methodologies to optimize efficiency.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of system architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Implement and maintain robust security policies, processes, configurations, and tools to protect systems and data from unauthorized access and threats.
  • Design, implement, and support IAM solutions that leverage automation to provision and deprovision role based access across enterprise systems.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in system design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, MacOS), networking protocols, security policies and practices, virtualization, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure), and scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Z Shell).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of technical professionals, fostering collaboration and high performance.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, estimate, and deliver work for a team leveraging Agile and/or Kanban methodologies along with successful implementation of complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively tailor communication of technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve complex issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in relevant technologies.
  • Experience with Active Directory Utilities, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Intune, AutoPilot, PDQ, GPO, Google Workspace Administration, IDP/SSO (Okta), MFA (Okta Verify).
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and AWS/Azure Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
